By the 25th anniversary of the Voronezh Regional Children's Oncohematology Center

Abstract

This article contains information on Voronezh regional hem/onc center based on the Voronezh regional children's research hospital No. 1 as one of the biggest centers in Russian Federation.

History of the Center begins in 1991 when at the Base of the Voronezh regional children's research hospital the oncohematological department was found with the support of project «CARE Germany». This department was lead by Alexander Karelin. History of Voronezh hem/onc center inseparably connected with rapid development of all children’s hematology and oncology in Russia and with the eminent persons of Russian and Foreign pediatric hematologists and oncologists – A. Rumyantsev, V. Polyakov, B. Kornhuber, D. Harms.

History of the center development, scientific work and caring persons of Voronezh region is presented in this article. Today pediatric hem/onc center takes part in several international research project (ALL, Histiocytosis, CNS, bone tumours and inherited coagulopathies studies). These activities shows a wide range of activities of the Center.
